Concepts in Yarn & Needlepoint has been in business since 1984. We have been teaching classes in knitting, crocheting, design and finishing as well as charting since the beginning. In 1989 we brought in needlepoint. It has always been our policy to never sell items we could not teach, so we found ourselves an excellent teacher and became hooked on needlepoint.
We consider ourselves an example of a typical LYS or Local Yarn Shop. We belong to an elite group of shops across the country that strive to serve our customers with the best service, the finest yarn, and classes, weekend seminars and evening workshops as well as educate you the consumer about yarn, its care and handling. Many of us carry additional art forms such as cross stitch, weaving, to name a very few. In our case it’s needlepoint.
The LYS Group share information, search for that elusive skein of yarn for customers that they may have run out of or find designs they request from a book or picture they may have seen. There are more than 100 shops across the Country that qualify as LYS. To qualify you must have a brick and mortar store, not be affiliated with a chain and offer extensive help on all items sold from your shop.
Our shop has been extremely lucky to also have in-house designers for whatever knitted item you may want. Bring us a picture, drawing or an idea and we will make you a pattern. We also have a canvas artist who will design a needlepoint canvas around a picture you give us, for example a pet, child, or whatever your idea may be.
